The means by
which we find our way;

Observations on design

Bringing it all together

Due to the quality and amount of the submissions received, we are pleased to announce that the design project and exhibition The means by which we find our way is now available as a book.

As a resource for case-studies in user-centred design and as a means to investigate cultural artifacts specifically related to design, The means by which we find our way; Observations on design looks at how graphic designers and educators navigate both the visual and the printed landscape. Show-casing over 70 design educators, representing over 20 countries, the texts and essays received provide fertile ground for further exploration into usability, cultural artifact, design-experience and design education.

The collection of submissions revealed an untapped wealth of knowledge and along with additional expository essays, provide the members of the design education fraternity with formidable design case-studies in user-centred-design, cultural awareness and readability.

Those who contributed to the book will be receiving their own copy in the mail. For additional copies, the book is available for purchase through Amazon.com, in New Zealand from EndemicWorld.com or directly via paypal.

Hosting the exhibition is easy
We would really like to encourage you to consider hosting the exhibition locally. Accessibility was one of our primary considerations for the project, and the exhibition material is provided free of charge. If you are interested in hosting the show, please visit the hosting page for details and contact the organisers to see how we can bring the Means to your neighbourhood.

A word of thanks
We would like to thank David Cook, Media Arts Research Coordinator for his help in securing funding for books publication. We would also like to thank both the School of Media Arts and the Research Centre at Wintec for their continued support.
